Interview With Author Hannah Morgan
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have published one book and am 95% done with the second one. It is being copy-edited now! I have always had a passion for writing; it is a way to teleport to other world, to live other lives.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It is called Safe Places, and was inspired by all the love and support I receive by those in my inner circle. I didn’t use to have that, so I wanted to write about how someone can find that support.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am very stop-and-go with my writing. I’ll write thousands of words in a day, and then not touch my story again for months. Somehow, I still get it done.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many! My favorite series growing up was the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, and I think that further fanned the fame of wanting to write inside me.
What are you working on now?
My newest novel, Safe Places. It is being copy-edited now, and then I will have the cover designed. I’m so excited!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Instagram primarily, although I have found it isn’t as helpful as it used to be. The algorithm is funky. But craft fairs have been a huge help for book sales! I made more money from them in a day than I ever have from online sales. Plus, they’re fun!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t compare yourself to the seeming success of others. You don’t know what is actually going on behind their screens. If you truly love writing, that is what matters.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write the book you want to read. You can worry about trends all you want, but at the end of the day, your passion will shine through.
What are you reading now?
I am about to start an indie book called “In Deeper” by Bethany Lynn Davis.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Publishing my upcoming book!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, a notebook, and All the Light We Cannot See.
