Interview With Author Hannah Truelove
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest surrounded by trees. My debut series, Alter, is set in a multiverse inspired by Seattle, WA. My 3rd book will be released this summer.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Alter: Multipocalypse is the 3rd and final book in the series. The story follows a group of young women who are dealing with an apocalypse that is affecting every world in the multiverse.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a speed writer and a juggler. When I’m inspired I’ll spend hours, days, or weeks committed to a story. When I’m not, I love to jump around between projects and let the story stew. When I come back, I remember what I loved about the manuscript and see what needs changed.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many! But I always say these two series helped make me the writer I am: The Giver by Lois Lowry and His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on two fantasy series and several standalones.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m everywhere. I’ve found good success with Instagram Ads, but personally, I’ve found that the most books are still sold via word of mouth.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t stop writing. Also, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. You can spend a lifetime perfecting your book.
There is only one way to get out there.
1. Finish the book
2. Be brave enough to let someone else read it
3. Write another book
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up.
What are you reading now?
The Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m excited to introduce the world to my two upcoming fantasy series. Lots of world building, lots of action, and centuries of lore. More about these series will be announced later this year.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Giver (Lois Lowry is full of life lessons I need to hear)
Come True: A Bomb-Ass Genie Romance by Brindi Quinn (The author’s voice and world building in this is incredible.)
Harry Potter (I can’t pick one, but I’ll need a series like this to keep me occupied on the island.)
