Harbinger tries to help by driving the human back to the colony outpost. There he causes more havoc as other humans fall victim to his attempts to communicate.
On Earth genetically engineered mecha pilot Jordan Tatum has completed her training and is assigned to the Howling Griffons to fly a Thunderhawk transforming fighter. She and her comrades are taken on a flight that tours the remnants of the two previous wars, a history lesson to understand the importance of their mission.
Harbinger calls upon Jurat and Zepher, the other members of his trinary to help him deal with the situation he has created. Zepher figures out that their method of communication is the cause of the humans insanity. In the meantime, one of the humans in the facility attempts to call for help. Harbinger tries to stop her but she manages to send a distress call back to earth.
While Jordan Tatum and her new squadron are getting underway marines under the command of Sergeant Delph arrive at Skarn to investigate the distress call. After performing an orbital drop to reach the surface they enter the colony compound where they encounter some of the colonists. As the marines are making their way in Harbinger and his trimates are working frantically to learn as much as they can about Skarn’s new arrivals. Their first idea is to reanimate some of the deceased humans and send them out to tell the marines to leave Skarn.
One of the marines overreacts and fires his weapon at the reanimated humans who are walking towards him. seeing their first plan fail Harbinger comes up with a new plan, repurpose some of the humans machines to chase the marines out of the colony. Instead the marines fight the machine monstrosity but before they can finish it off they are taken down by the shapeshifters attempts to communicate.
While Jordan travels to Skarn in hibernation officials on earth must deal with the tense political and social situation since Skarn is such a valuable colony. When Jordan’s ship arrives at Skarn everyone is awakened but told very little about what is going on. On Skarn Delph wakes up next to the colony’s manager and are confronted by Harbinger who tries to reason with them. the humans refuse to cooperate then Delph demands to use the bathroom but this is a ruse. As he runs away, the manager, Cosgrove runs to the colony’s communication center to call for help. He barely makes a call for help when he collapses from a heart attack. The Umamo tell communication officer that there is nothing wrong causing them to sound general quarters.
The Howling Griffons are sent in to contact the colony and are confronted with mecha built by Zepher. During the intense skirmish the humans are forced to retreat. During the battle Delph is injured and is rescued by other colonists sent to investigate only to be captured by Harbinger.
With her wingman injured Jordan is assigned to Franklin “Punisher” Rook. After surviving a sparing match with him they go out on patrol and engage the Void Dragon, Zepher’s latest creation. While she successfully damages the enemy mecha it destroys one of the human ships. During the battle Punisher is forced to eject and lands on Skarn. Against orders Jordan goes to rescue him fighting several Umumo mecha that were sent to capture him.
Jordan and Harbinger are castigated when confronted by their respective superiors. The humans decide to take the fight to the Umamo and launch an orbital assault starting with a bombardment followed by landing troops. The attack fails due to Umamo misdirection and ground troops are routed using new mecha.
Back on earth AI machines return to exterminate humanity. At this point Harbinger reveals that he has utilized forbidden technology to see into the future and informs everyone that they must work together to stop the AI.
Convincing Jordan and her friends to help the motley group heads to earth to stop the AI.

Author Bio:
Born and raised in Washington State I have a BS in geology from Washington State University and I work as a soils engineer monitoring construction sites to ensure that all building are resting on solid ground. I have enjoyed reading science fiction all my life, so I decided to start writing books myself. kind of ironic since I hated writing while in school. I choose my pen name Ulysses Namon from the movie starring Kirk Douglas, Namon is “no man” spelled backwards.
