Author Bio:
Children’s book author Kara Mugleston has always loved writing and began her storytelling at the young age of seven. Back then she’d put paper to pen alongside her dad who was working on a book. These days, Kara still enjoys using an ink pen to start her storymaking and gets her mind in the game by watching silly dog videos online, an appropriate act since her new middle-grade novel, Hopscotch and the Case of the Missing Memories involves a loveable and clever rescue dog named—what else? —Hopscotch.
Kara believes a good story is one that is captivating and relatable to the reader, where there is a strong connection to the main character and you feel that you are in the story with them. Her hope is that her books help to instill a lifelong love of reading in her young readers, and that it gives them an opportunity to unwind and enjoy their time absorbed in the story.
Hailing from Utah, Kara is a huge animal lover whose secret dream is to live on a farm with goats, pigs, cows, you name it. But for now, she’ll settle for her two beloved dogs and one cat. When she isn’t writing adventurous books for children, Kara enjoys reading, playing with her pupus, swimming, visiting zoos and aquariums, and baking.
Kara’s family—her husband, two daughters, sister, and her dad—are huge supporters of her writing journey, a process that she finds is a lot of hard work and determination, but is so rewarding in the end. Hopscotch and the Case of the Missing Memories is the first book in its series.
