About How the Hell Did I become the Boss
How the Hell Did I Become the Boss?
A brutally honest, laugh-out-loud guide to surviving the corporate trenches.
After 43 years navigating the highs, lows, and downright absurdities of business, I’ve seen it all: impossible deadlines, clueless bosses, office politics that could fuel a TV drama, and colleagues who seemed determined to test every rule ever written. This book is the story of how I went from a sales rep to the president of a company, and the lessons I learned along the way—lessons that no business school will ever teach you.
Packed with funny anecdotes, unforgettable characters, and hard-earned insights, How the Hell Did I Become the Boss? is both a memoir and a practical guide. It’s about the people skills that matter more than spreadsheets, the soft skills that get you noticed (and occasionally in trouble), and the unspoken rules that determine whether you survive—or thrive—in the corporate world.
This is not a dry manual filled with buzzwords. It’s real, relatable, and sometimes irreverent. You’ll laugh, you might cringe, and you’ll probably recognize yourself—or someone you’ve worked with—in these pages. Each chapter distills lessons on leadership, negotiation, communication, and decision-making, framed by stories that are as entertaining as they are instructive.
Whether you’re an aspiring manager, a seasoned professional, or just curious about the inner workings of corporate life, this book offers something valuable: guidance, perspective, and a reminder that even in the chaos of business, humor and humanity matter.
If you’ve ever wondered how people end up in leadership roles—or how they survive once they get there—How the Hell Did I Become the Boss? will give you the answers, the laughs, and maybe a little courage to face your own office battles.
