BIO: CARMINE LOMBARDO – 2009 SENIOR POET LAUREATE OF FLORIDA,
AUTHOR, LIBRETTIST, LYRICIST, MUSICIAN
Carmine began his elusive writing career at age 16 and to date he has written 12 children’s books – one, LOVE in the LILY POND, highly acclaimed for its themes of true love and friendship, has been read to over 450 elementary students grades 2 – 6 with excellent responses. Many of his poems have been published in magazines, newspapers and anthologies. LITTLE PEARLS, a collection of 124 of his poems touches almost every aspect of life.

As a member of BMI, Inc. (Broadcast Music, Inc.), he won a scholarship to a musical theater workshop under the direction of Lehman Engel. He became a staff writer for Southern-Peer Music, Inc. and Fred Fisher Music in NYC. In 2009, the 17th Annual Senior Poets Laureate Award, sponsored by Amy Kitchener’s Angels Without Wings Foundation, honored him as Poet Laureate of Florida. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, the Author’s League, The Academy of American Poets, Allpoetry.com and South Carolina Writers Association. Receiving his B.A. and M.A. from Seton Hall University, he became a Language Arts, social studies, drama and special education teacher. He is happily married, blessed with a family closer than pages in a book, and lives with his beautiful wife, Dorayne, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
