BIO: CARMINE LOMBARDO – 2009 SENIOR POET LAUREATE OF FLORIDA,
AUTHOR, LIBRETTIST, LYRICIST, MUSICIAN
Carmine began his elusive writing career at age 16 and to date he has written
12 children’s books – one, LOVE in the LILY POND, highly acclaimed for its
themes of true love and friendship, has been read to over 450 elementary
students grades 2 – 6 with excellent responses. Many of his poems have been
published in magazines, newspapers and anthologies. LITTLE PEARLS, a
collection of 124 of his poems touches almost every aspect of life.
I HUNG JESUS, a reviewed 5-star story based on the death of Jesus Christ as
told through the eyes of a tree that became the implement of Jesus’ death has
been published by Archway Publishers, a subsidiary of Simon and Schuster
and has been honored as the winner of the International Impact Book Award.
His repertoire also includes 12 musicals and over 300 songs, many which have
been recorded and have been hits. His present works, DOBDINOB, The Land
of Time, a Magical Musical, encourages everyone to find his or her dream by a
heavy dose of courage, persistence and faith was world premiered at the
James McCabe Theatre, Valrico, Florida in October 2018. It was honored to
be nominated as the best musical, best score and best director. DANCER, an
emotional, inspirational musical scrapbook tells about the challenges and
determination of a dancer’s life while A SHADOW OF a TREE, a dramatic
innovative play inspired by a true story, is a journey of the heart.
As a member of BMI, Inc. (Broadcast Music, Inc.), he won a scholarship to a
musical workshop under the direction of Lehman Engel. He became a staff
writer for Southern-Peer Music, Inc. and Fred Fisher Music in NYC. In 2009,
the 17th Annual Senior Poets Laureate Award, sponsored by Amy Kitchener’s
Angels Without Wings Foundation, honored him as Poet Laureate of Florida.
He is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, the Author’s League, The
Academy of American Poets, Allpoetry.com and South Carolina Writers
Association. Receiving his B.A. and M.A. from Seton Hall University, he
became a Language Arts, social studies, drama and special education teacher.
He is happily married, blessed with a family closer than pages in a book, and
