Interview With Author Inger Brown
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written about 13 books now, mostly on my series The Bobbling.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My new book is called “The Bobbling and Bat Island”. It was inspired by fruit bats, its a very cute and unusual story.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No, I don’t really have any habits when writing or drawing. I tend to feel inspired when I feel happy.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are so many and I think you tend to take little bits of inspiration everywhere and then build it up and create something new.
What are you working on now?
I have just finished this new Bobbling book. I am just having a little break before starting the next Bobbling project. As always I feel quite excited about get prospect of starting a new book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I tend to use social media but I find promotion a very difficult task.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep going at it, it can be very frustrating and hard but just keep plodding along.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t give up – I don’t really think there is better advice. It is bland and sounds uninspired, we have all heard it 100 times. However, it is the only true advice, if you want to achieve writing or creating a book you have to keep going.
What are you reading now?
Judge Dredd
What’s next for you as a writer?
I need to promote my new book “The Bobbling and Bat Island”.
Then I need to start illustrating my next story and I am very excited about it.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Well that’s hard. I guess they should be long books if you are going to be stuck on the island for awhile haha…
