Interview With Author Isla Quinn
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Isla Quinn writes for the quiet dreamers, the cosmic seekers, and the souls who have always felt there was more written in the stars.
She is the author of Astrology 101: The Language of the Stars — a gentle, poetic and humorous guide for anyone beginning their journey into astrology, self-discovery, and emotional healing.
Rooted in soft living and slow magic, Isla blends celestial wisdom with grounded insight, making astrology feel more like a conversation with your soul than a list of signs and traits. Her work is an invitation: to read your birth chart not as a prediction, but as a map back to
Isla is gently expanding her body of work into romance and self-help, crafting future books that explore the ache of feminine longing, the tenderness of emotional intimacy, and the quiet, luminous path of personal healing.
When she’s not writing under moonlight, Isla shares her love for astrology, storytelling, and food-filled adventures on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube @lifeofisla7.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is called Astrology 101: The Language of the Stars. It was born from a lifelong fascination with how the sky seems to hold our emotional truths. I wrote it for people who sense they’re more than their sun sign — for those who want to understand their soul through the poetry of the planets. It’s a gentle, accessible, and humorous guide to decoding your birth chart like a cosmic mirror.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write best when it’s quiet, soft, and slightly surreal — often under moonlight, sometimes with a candle lit, and always with a beverage nearby. I read what I write out loud to feel its rhythm. If it doesn’t feel like a breath or a heartbeat, it doesn’t make the page.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m deeply inspired by authors who write with emotional depth like Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Rupi Kaur, Kim Thuy, Amy Tan, Charles Dickens, Victor Hugo and many others!
What are you working on now?
I’m planning to write a series of cosmic self-discovery guides to help readers live and love more consciously and expanding my authorship into romance and self-help.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far, TikTok (@lifeofisla7) has been a powerful space for connection.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t rush the numbers. Build resonance. Write from your bones, your wounds, your quiet knowing. And when it feels like no one’s listening — write anyway. Sometimes the work needs to live before it’s seen.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Let it be messy. Just let it be real.” That advice gave me permission to stop trying to sound perfect and start writing what actually ached to be written.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m revisiting The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m sketching out my next astrology guides. My long-term goal is to build a full library of cosmic and emotional books.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens — for its aching ambition and timeless emotional tension.
The Awakening by Kate Chopin — for its quiet rage, feminine longing, and the way it speaks to freedom.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë — because it reminds me that solitude and selfhood are not the same thing.
And a journal, of course — because I’d need a place to pour out the sky still swirling inside me.
