Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live and write from Jamaica and have been writing since I was in high school, which was many moons ago. I have authored sixteen novels, seven novellas and two short story collections, one of which is free on Amazon.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Persuasion is the third book in a New Adult series. The stories continued from an older storyline that involved the parents of the young ladies who are featured in the Sisters-in-Love series. As the older stories developed, the girls matured and demanded their own novels.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not so unusual, but editing for a client or critiquing work for someone else gets my writing juices flowing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Some of my favourite authors are Jeffrey Archer, Dick Francis, Mary Higgins Clark, Robert B. Parker, and Eric Van Lustbader. I enjoy suspense and these writers’ stories have influenced the way in which I craft my own tales.
What are you working on now?
Currently, I am writing a contemporary romance that involves a group of friends who enjoy golf. The Long Game is the second book in this series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Sharing the books on social media and paying for ads on Facebook have helped with promotion.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
The biggest favour you can do for yourself is to learn the craft of writing and make a commitment to never stop learning.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
A critique partner once told me that my biggest responsibility is to my own writing. No matter what I have to do for other writers, it is important to remember that my writing comes first.
What are you reading now?
I am reading The Summer of Me by Angela Benson and My Joy by Suzette D. Harrison.
What’s next for you as a writer?
There are several books I need to finish before I move on to writing a novel that will be in a new genre for me. I expect that to be a wonderful adventure.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain and a four-book series by James Herriot. Oops, I believe that makes five books.
