Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Jacob Lasher. I have two books of poetry published and one coming in January 2020.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Leaky Faucets is a book that I put my heart and soul into. It’s about the struggles of having anxiety and attempting to maintain relationships which proves to be a hard effort. I used my own experiences while putting together the puzzle pieces.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I either write for ten hours straight or not at all. I’m kind of an all or nothing guy.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jodi Picoult for sure. I love Cheryl Rainfield and Ellen Hopkins because they’re so raw and honest.
What are you working on now?
My first novel in years is titled First Train Home. I am so proud with how it’s coming together. It’s going into so many different directions and I didn’t picture it turning out this way, but I couldn’t be more happier!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook/Instagram. I have a website now, too! jacoblasher.com
Do you have any advice for new authors?
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just write your dang book. Your first draft is not your final draft.
What are you reading now?
I’ve been rereading Cheryl Rainfield’s Scars. It’s my favorite book of all time and I’ve destroyed it because I have read it so much.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing to write and hopefully reach people in ways beyond my imagining.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Scars by Cheryl Rainfield, Impulse by Ellen Hopkins, 19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult, and Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
