Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing contemporary romance (including sport, military and new adult) for six years. 24 books – damn! I’ve been busy. Oh, and a play about a solider with PTSD entitled LATER, AFTER.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
MODEL BOYFRIEND
It’s a collaboration with STUART REARDON who was a professional athlete for 16 years and has been on the cover of over 100 romance novels. This book is based on aspects of his life, although it’s not an autobiography. We had a great time working together!
It’s out on July 10 2018
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I read sections out to my little dog. She’s my greatest fan (and critic – sometimes she falls asleep).
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jane Austen – always!
EL James – she got me hooked on romance
What are you working on now?
Just starting another military romance about a bomb disposal officer, entitled TICK TOCK. It’ll have an explosive story line ๐
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I wish I had the answer. I’m a huge fan of Instagram. BookBub is very influential on sales.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
You might be lucky and hit it big with one book, I hope you do! But if you’re in it for the long haul, your backlist is your friend.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Teachers say, “write what you know”. I say, “write what you can imagine”.
What are you reading now?
I’m actually proof reading one of my own books. Does that count? Okay, I’m re-reading TENDER IS THE NIGHT by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve recently had some books in translation: French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Polish – and one in Hebrew. That’s an exciting development.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The complete Jane Austen
The Bible (because I’ve never read it all the way through)
The complete Charles Dickens
My Japanese text book because I’ve been trying to learn Japanese for years!
