About Javier and I
The book “Javier and I” speaks of the lostness of the human soul and the constant search for it. The moment we renounce everything we have been, our new life begins, one that will always be intertwined with the memories and pains of the old. Until we are ready to accept that all the good and bad surrounding us and shaping our daily lives is, in fact, a part of us, we will live through the same experiences as the main characters in this work. They travel together by ship from the city of Mulasa to the small village of Jeren, and during this journey, they learn a great deal about each other. Their conversations are, in a sense, confessions. They reveal things about themselves and their lives, freeing themselves from the burdens of the past, all of which one of them conveys to us in the form of a journal. That one is the “I,” who is also the narrator of the story. The book tells us that deep within ourselves, we must find someone like him, who will help us break free from the shackles of guilt and self-pity. Each of us has a special “I” that resembles us in many ways. It is our reflection in the mirror.

Author Bio:
Miloš Nikolić, a young man and author of the work Javier and I, was born on July 11, 2002. Since birth, he has lived in the village of Stubline, near the town of Obrenovac. His interest in writing and literary interpretation is a legacy from his mother, Branka, who, throughout most of his elementary education, wrote his essays and homework assignments in Serbian language and literature.
Alongside her, credit is also due to his sister Milica, a passionate reader who shares her love of books with her brother, inspiring him to read a great number of books each year. His writing style has been shaped primarily by short novels that leave an indelible mark on the minds of young people. His literary role models include Ernest Hemingway and Dragoslav Mihailović, whose works he first encountered during high school.
It was during that same period—his high school years—that he set out on his literary journey, beginning with the writing of poetry.
