Interview With Author Javier Moreno
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written two. The first one is completed and published. The second one I had a suggestion to add a chapter and I will work on that. However after publishing my first book I realized I lost my very first book so I am in the process of re-writing it right now.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The End Of It All is inspired mostly by the works of Stephen King, mainly The Stand, and also by post-apocalyptic movies of lonely characters like I Am Legend.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. My habits have evolved through time, though. I used to write a book from beginning to end but my latest one I wrote an outline of the entire story and I am going through each point, expanding into chapters. I actually already wrote the last 3 or 4 chapters, then went back and I am about halfway done.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King and James Patterson. I like how Stephen King has incredible stories and how those have translated to the big or small screen. James Patterson is just amazing to read, he packs so much content and writes small chapters which causes reading flow to be really good. It literally is the definition of page-turner.
What are you working on now?
Re-writing my first book, which was originally an English class project. I remember the original goal for this one was to write a book with a “bad ending”, that was it. I achieved my goal since someone else in the class wrote a follow-up to turn around the ending.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Quite honestly I am very new in promoting. I have only 6 copies sold, to close friends. This is my first book to be published.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I read Stephen King’s book on book writing which was an excellent read, but I have consumed a lot of YouTube content. There is a lot out there to learn.
What are you reading now?
Detective Cross by James Patterson
What’s next for you as a writer?
Next is finishing my third book. I know that sounds odd because my second one is complete but I really want to try to add a chapter or two after I received a recommendation from one of my friends that have read it before publishing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Any 4 books from the Alex Cross saga by James Patterson.
