Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written 7 books; three are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. I was born in New York City, and raised on Long Island, and later South Florida, where I graduated from N. Miami Senior High. I soloed in a Cessna 150 on Halloween, 1968, and have had a lifelong interest in aviation and space. My three books are the Face on Mars inspired book THE HEALER; the alternative history/time travel/romance novel CHERRIES IN WINTER; and the eerie urban fantasy IN THE SHADOW OF THE HOUSE OF GOD. I live in Tucson, Arizona, land of breathtaking vistas and brain-boiling summers.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is IN THE SHADOW OF THE HOUSE OF GOD. It is an eerie urban fantasy about a bet the devil makes with God, and all of creation hangs in the balance. I wrote it because I saw that the world is awash in hatreds, mutual animosities, terrorism in the name of religion, and a world on the brink of Armageddon. And I wondered if I could write a book showing the unity of all faiths, then perhaps, if even a tiny bit, I might be able to pull us back from the brink and wake some people up. I truly hope so.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No, not that I can think of; except I write first in longhand on a legal pad. Then I “bleed” all over it until I’m satisfied, then I transfer my work to the computer.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ray Bradbury, Douglas Adams, Thornton Wilder, T. Lobsang Rampa, H.G. wells, and so many others!
What are you working on now?
Nothing at the moment, while I help to promote and market IN THE SHADOW OF THE HOUSE OF GOD. Eventually, time permitting, I will return to an unfinished manuscript – THE HORROR ON BOARD THE HMS COTTINGLY.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook probably, because it has thousands of book group pages that I can post my ad to.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Persistence, and a thick skin. A quote I heard once when I get angry is the following: “A writer is someone who has to continually prove his talent – to those that have none.”
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Follow your dreams, even if it means you must march to the beat of a different drummer to achieve them.
What are you reading now?
Nothing specific at the moment.
What’s next for you as a writer?
The ongoing process of trying to sell my approximately 30 short stories.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Douglas Adam’s books to laugh, the Bible to sustain my faith, and a survivalist book.
