Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written several novels but Hunting Abigail is the first I have published. Others will follow soon when I get around to editing them.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Hunting Abigail is an amalgam of two novels I wrote in my early days. Neither strong enough on their own, once combined they offered a whole new perspective on the story as a whole, and Hunting Abigail was created.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My writing habits are fairly boring really. For example, I like to sit with a melon on my head while writing or partake in the odd rain dance which I find laces me with inspirational ideas – the usual stuff really.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Through an antique lens, Oscar Wilde and Harper Lee, most definitely. Through a more modern lens, Mo Hayder thrillers are a particular favourite of mine. As well as Sandrone Dazieri, Steig Larsson and Thomas Harris.
What are you working on now?
A stand-alone thriller called Breaking Nathan. I wrote this novel ages ago but I still love the premise. It is, however, a good few edits away from being finished.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am only just beginning this process but Bookbub seems to be the go-to for many authors. Standard social media is useful, and promo sites such as Awesome Gang are super-useful too.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I wish. I don’t presume to be an authority! ๐
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
About anything? That is a broad question but one quote does spring to mind by David Foster Wallace:
“You’ll worry less about what people think about you when you realize how seldom they do!”
How good is that! Especially in today’s world.
What are you reading now?
Dean Koontz’s Jane Hawk series.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Go back a couple of questions!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
How to Stay Alive by Bear Grylls
How to Build Your Own Cabin in the Woods by J. Wayne Fears
Hunting, Butchering & Cooking Wild Game by Steven Rinella
