Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in Asheville, NC. My husband and I are the parents of eight and the grandparents of seventeen and counting. I write inspirational interracial romance, YA romance, romantic fantasy, and children’s chapter books.
L love reading, traveling, doing crafts, eating Italian food, and spending time with my grandchildren.
I love sharing uplifting messages of hope through my stories.
I have written over 40 novels, novellas, and short stories.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Mary Magdalene- Beloved of the Bridegroom, and is about the possible life of Mary Magdalene. She is one of my favorite women in the Bible, and she’s been so misrepresented, I felt inspired to give her a voice and give readers a look into her life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a people watcher, and many of my stories are inspired by neighbors and people I encounter in my travels. Some people are so interesting, the stories just come.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love reading Francine Rivers, Kimberly Griffiths Little, Marcia Lynn McClure, Rachel Nunes, Khaled Hosseni, Michele Ashman Bell, H.B. Moore, Richard Paul Evans, Anita Stansfield, etc. There are so many, I can’t name them all.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m working on a couple of revisions and focusing on my weekly inspirational blog.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do a lot of Facebook advertising and I have an email list.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write what you love, and know that your writing will not please everyone, so don’t even try. The day you try to please everyone will be the day you lose your joy in writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t spend too much time reading reviews, and always have a project going, even if it’s just revisions.
What are you reading now?
At the moment, I am reading Tathea by Anne Perry for like the 20th time. Wonderful story!
What’s next for you as a writer?
After doing revisions, I have a couple of story ideas that I’ve scribbled down, so I’ll probable focus on one of those.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
That would be Francine River’s Mark of the Lion Trilogy, Tathea and the sequel, Come Armageddon. And orange Tic Tacs are a necessity!
