About Jitsuroku Ju: The Life of Miyamoto Musashi
Told in the context of a life long feud between Musashi and his arch rival, Sasaki Kojiro Ganryu, this epic life story centered around revenge is a version of Miyamoto Musashi’s life story you do not want to miss!
A special full length book and the 10th installment of Justin Hagen’s Jitsuroku series, The Life of Miyamoto Musashi retells Walter Dening’s version of Musashi’s life with updated commentary shedding new light on the life of this influential figure in Japanese and martial arts history.
Since Dening’s time, a great deal more research has been conducted about the life of Miyamoto Musashi, master swordsman turned legend. With such studies it would appear that while a significant portion of Dening’s work at face value appears mainly to be fictional, there still seems to be layers and fragments of true aspects of Musashi’s life intermingled with other personages throughout history. As such, additional commentary, a new Foreword and new Afterword have been added to the original story in an attempt to bridge the gap between fact and fiction to bring historical context to this version of Musashi’s life.
