Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
So, as you know, my name is Joceline Krieger. I have always had the dream to become a writer, and with the advent of self-publishing, I could not think of one single excuse to not go ahead and try. The time had just finally come to stop dreaming and start living.
So, long story short, I finally published my first book on 18 January 2017. It is a romantica novelette and I had great fun writing it. I learned a lot while I wrote it and I know the quality of my writing will continue to improve which each new one I write.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of the book is ‘Love.’ I have always believed that no relationship could ever be truly successful if the passion is not always there. Thus, for me, love is sex, and sex is love. It was this notion that inspired the book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I cannot write if everything is not just so. I need to create my own little bubble of peace and tranquility to truly focus and get the job done. If there are any distractions, whatsoever, I start to write complete and utter junk.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
He may not write erotica, but Salman Rushdie has always been one of my greatest influences. He has an amazing way of writing and describing things, that is definitely unique to him. I am also a great fan of Roald Dahl, Virgina Woolf and John le Carre.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on my second novelette entitled ‘Lust.’ It is a continuation on the whole idea that love is sex, and sex is love.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
What other than social media. Social media is the future and it where most people get their information. It is also the best way for things to spread through word of mouth as people like and share your posts.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Well, I am a new author myself so I do not have much to share. I guess all I can say is, just do it. You will not know until you try.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
That is a hard one. You hear about so many great quotes but few ever hit home or stick. I would say the best advice I have ever heard must be to never give up. Life will throw all kinds of obstacles in your way and all you can do is to keep going. If you want something bad enough, it will come to you no matter what. You just have to persevere.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading ‘A Delicate Truth’ by John le Carre. I absolutely love the writing in that book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Only time will tell. I have only begun my journey so we will have to see what life brings.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would have to say ‘Midnight’s Children’ by Salman Rushdie. Every word and sentence in that book are absolute poetry. The next one will have to be ‘To The Lighthouse’ by Virgina Woolf. I have never in my life read a book that did such a good job of letting the reader into the lives of its characters. Finally, I would have to say ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ by Charles Dickens. It is just one of those timeless books which I can read time and again.
