Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written multiple books in the form of first drafts, five to be exact. When I say books I mean novels. I turned one into a polished manuscript in the past year and I’m shopping it around to agents now. I published a short collection of short stories recently and I plan to publish another collection in the near future.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Drugs, Sex & Death Toll. What inspired the stories in this book is the type of life I’ve lived. I chose to write stories that would hopefully encourage people not to do the things the characters in the book are doing. I’ve seen the ugly side of drugs and the streets and I wanted to show they don’t always let people escape.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know how unusual my habits are. I frequent coffee shops, listen to classical music and when I’m home I pace and brood quite a bit. I have sticky notes, flash cards and notebooks all scribbled on and scattered about my home office. Nothing too unusual, I guess.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Authors and books… “On Writing” by Stephen King, “Life Expectancy” by Dean Koontz, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert T. Kiyosaki, “Mindset” by Carol S. Dweck and so many others have influenced me in my writing and as a person.
What are you working on now?
I have different projects in different areas and methods to my madness. I’m drawing up and collecting material for a Non-fiction piece right now. I hope to have it written, polished and published sometime in the beginning of next year. Then there’s the next collection of short stories and the next novel in the series of the one I’m now soliciting.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m learning a lot about marketing and promotion, but sadly I focused all my efforts on writing and the craft for years without doing much research on selling until the recent publication of Drugs, Sex & Death Toll. It’s been a wonderful learning experience. So far I use Facebook and Twitter most.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never Give Up.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never Give Up.
What are you reading now?
I’m usually reading Non-fiction and Fiction alternately. I’m reading “The Millionaire Next Door” by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko. I plan on reading “Hideaway” by Dean Koontz next.
What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer, I plan to keep moving forward with my dreams and endeavors. Always moving forward, always improving.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Well if I could research the books they would probably all be about or have something to do with how to survive on a desert island. I like “The Everything” series, maybe the have dessert island survival guides.
