Interview With Author Jordan Enriquez
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written several fiction books over the years, but I never really got the chance to show them to the world. What is a Cat? – 9 Meows to English Fluency is my first published work. It combines my love for teaching with a unique, creative approach to language learning.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is What is a Cat? – 9 Meows to English Fluency. I love teaching and inspiring others to grow, learn, and push beyond their comfort zones. This book was born from my desire to help English learners improve in a fun and relatable way — using the simple, familiar behavior of cats as a metaphor for language learning.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Absolutely. I used to write everywhere — I always made sure to carry a small notebook and a pen, whether I was at home, in public, or even in the bathroom! I’ve written stories in the mountains and started writing as early as 4th grade. Creativity can strike at any moment, so I stay ready.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
It might be unexpected, but the Bible has had the biggest influence on me. It’s not directly tied to teaching English, but it has deeply shaped how I think, write, and communicate with others.
What are you working on now?
I’m planning to teach through YouTube, sharing educational and motivational content that continues the mission behind my book — helping people learn in a relatable and down-to-earth way.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right here. Awesome Gang has been a helpful platform for promoting indie books like mine.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. Don’t worry about getting it perfect the first time. Editing comes later — what matters most is getting your ideas out of your head and onto the page.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
When it comes to writing: Just write. It sounds simple, but it’s the most powerful advice I’ve followed.
What are you reading now?
Honestly? These interview questions.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Maybe getting some sleep! But seriously, I plan to keep writing, teaching, and growing my platform — especially through YouTube.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, What is a Cat?, and… your book.
