Interview With Author Jose Nessin Abbo
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have been a financial markets practioner for 35 years. Written three books.
1 – Divisando Wall Street Desde el Sur de America (2000)
2 – The Big Gamble Are You Investing or Speculating? (2008)
3 – From Asteroids to Pandemics, living a world of spontaneous risks (2022)
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “From Asteroids to Pandemics, living a world of spontaneous riks”. It was inspired during the most critical period of the current pandemic. It got me thinking about all those risks we do not consider since our civilization has not gone through yet, not realizing how vulnerable we are to such unknown risks. How do we prepare for something which has not happened yet in our times? For example, a killer asteroid crashing on Earth, an all out nuclear war, an unknown evolving catastrophic event.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do. The three books I have written, came from sudden eureka moments. But, as you can tell from my three books, these eureka moments do not come very often. It took me eight years to come up with my second book, and then another fourteen to write my latest one. Confident that I would be able to keep writing for at least the next twenty years, I am willing to wait that many years, until the next eureka thunder strikes me again.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Niall Ferguson, Hamish McRae, Maggie Mahar, Peter Lynch, Frank Partnoy, Dan Ariely, Kevin Philips, George Glider, Joseph P. Lash, John L. Casti.
What are you working on now?
Focused on promoting “From Asteroids to Pandemics”.
