Interview With Author Kasey Crawford
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a first time published author and Oliver and the Silly Flutter-by is the first story that I penned.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My kids served as the inspiration for my first book, Oliver and the Silly Flutter-by. When they were smaller, I had shared this tale with them as part of our nightly routine. They’d smile when they heard of Oliver, a good-natured adventurer. They learned about kindness, friendship, and acceptance via the stories.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Writing a narrative requires a lot of time. Additionally, it usually requires a few revisions before I am happy and decide to publish it.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My stories come to life thanks to my creative spirit and limitless imagination. I have a great admiration for well-known children’s writers like Syndak, Dahl, Keats, and Bemelman and find inspiration in their timeless narratives. Aesop’s Fables is one of my all-time favorite children’s books since it inspired a love of fables and moral lessons in me.
What are you working on now?
Several books are now in the works for me. For kids ages 3 to 6, Oliver and the Flutter-by is the first book in a five book series called Oliver’s Adventures. Oliver will gain insightful life lessons and friendships with magical animals over the entire series. Along with that, I’m writing a young adult novel about a girl who is coming into her own. It is a contemporary setting for a fantasy coming-of-age tale.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My website, kaseycrawfordauthor.com, or sending me an email at contactus@kaseycrawfordauthor.com are the best ways to find out what I’m up to or to get in touch with me. I also use a number of social media sites, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, and Facebook to stay in touch with my readers.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be persistent and just do it. I was in my 50 when I published my first book and if can do it, so can you.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t rely on anyone else; only you can bring happiness to yourself.Living the life you want is entirely up to you. Nobody can carry that out for you. Spend some time getting to know yourself. In the end, you will be happier.
What are you reading now?
Panchiko by Min Jin Lee.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Just continue with writing my stories about Oliver and the adventures he takes.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
There are a lot of excellent novels available, so this is a difficult topic. Since Aesops Fables was my all-time favorite book as a child, I believe I would bring it. I would also bring Pachinko, the book I’m now reading. And for my third, I might choose a classic like Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre.
