Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Kassie Cox, I’ve been writing since I was ten years old! My dream has always been to have a paperback of something I’ve written and after graduating college with a degree in 3D Animation and VFX for Film, I decided ow was the time to make that dream happen! I’ve only finished one book, but have been a whirlwind of ideas and inspiration since I was a child!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My Lycan Mate.
My inspiration was the fact that I was tired of reading books with weak female characters. I was tired of seeing the classic “Abusive Alpha hurts mate but eventually changes and they live happily ever after”. So, I made a world where my characters didn’t do that!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I write on paper I ever capitalize “I”. My English teacher hated that about me!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephanie Meyers for certain. The Host is my most read books (I own two copies).
A huge book that inspired me has to be the Court of Thorns ad Roses. I loved the world so much, the characters and the growth of the main characters. Nothing compares to them.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a book full of romance, love triangles, and curses!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My Instagram is kncbooks or Wattpad name is @ riskybizzzz
Do you have any advice for new authors?
To be successful, make connections. Starting off on Wattpad gave me the opportunity to start a base of people who enjoyed my work. Eventually I got over one million reads and by the time I published to Amazon I got 40 downloads in 2 days SIMPLY from people I’d spoken to on Wattpad. Be nice and social to ANYONE who shows interest in your work! Have real conversations! Don’t thrust your work onto people, create friendships and you’ll get so much out of it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I suppose this isn’t advice, but it did help me in my writing. I read somewhere that “You don’t always have to agree with your characters choices.” After that, my writing became one hundred times better. My morals didn’t get in the way of a great story any longer!
What’s next for you as a writer?
My next step is to continue writing and reading. I’ve begun the outline, getting the situations and the characters down. Picking names seems to be my huge issue this go around!
Overall, I’ll just keep pumping out content and getting stuff done!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Host, some random survival book, Diabolic, and something about desert islands.
