Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live on the west coast of Canada, though I hail from England and have lived in many countries. I’ve now written eight steamy romances
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Letting Go, which is available free from my website www.katebrittonbooks.com
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I play either jazz or classical music and tend to forget to get up and stretch while I’m immersed in developing my novels, except for filling my cup of tea, of course!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been inspired by many authors, and do admit to liking E.L.James. It’s popular to knock her, but you can’t argue with her success and she gave me the courage to write the erotic stories brewing in my brain.
What are you working on now?
A book called INITIATING GRAEME, which will be the prequel to TAMING THE BILLIONAIRE. It’s the story of Graeme Browning as a teenager, of his decision to marry young to Carrie and the way he came to adopt his lifestyle. I’m also mulling over another short novella, LETTING BE, which will be the continuation of the relationship between Liz and Richard. Readers can get the first novella, LETTING GO free on my website, www.katebrittonbooks.com
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I love to use twitter, facebook groups, and the many newsletters available, of which of course the AWESOMEGANG is outstanding. I also use KDP Select free days. Don’t like the countdown feature because it doesn’t work worldwide and I do believe in a level playing field for readers.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, put it away for a few weeks, read it, edit it, go to fiverr.com and get a cover, and put it on Amazon KDP. Use the free days to introduce it, list your free days on as many sites as you can. Go to Mailchimp, make a landing page to your newsletter, and collect names for a mailing list so you can tell people about your next, probably better book. But write and publish! Don’t be afraid of failure. You are a success!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be true to yourself and don’t worry about what people say. More people will like you and be silent than the naysayers who seem to be very vocal.
What are you reading now?
Grey by E L James, it’s very interesting to see the other side…and a book called Love, Laughter and Steamy Ever Afters. Ten novels by ten bestselling authors Bella Andre, Melissa Foster, Violet Duke, Erin Nicholas, Lauren Blakely, Carly Phillips, Sawyer Bennett, Melanie Shawn, Jessie Evans, Crista McHugh . You have to watch out for these collections, they’re only available for a short time.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I think I’ll write a book of short stories, after I finish Initiating Graeme and editing Graeme Untamed as I put the five parts into the complete volume.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
It would have to be four collections of novels because that would give me 40 books instead of 4! I read a lot…
