Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an independent author, scientist, and mother of 3! I’ve written 4 short books so far.
“The Wedding Vows Chapbook”
“101 Reasons I’d Rather Marry My Cat”
“How to be Happy Alone”
“Baby Boomer’s Guide to Retirement”
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “101 Reasons I’d Rather Marry My Cat.” It’s a humorous book inspired by my currently rocky personal life. I feel like so many people can relate to it and laugh.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual? Well, I always have to eat chocolate when I sit down to my computer and start writing. I’m seriously addicted to chocolate.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love reading! As a science nerd, I enjoy textbooks about biology, nutrition, chemistry, etc. I also enjoy classics, inspirational literature, and lately, murder mysteries. It’s a newer category for me, but I like it!
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a book about de-stressing and relaxation techniques. Two of my children have challenges, Aspergers and ADHD, so I am well-versed in calming techniques. I thought it was time to put my knowledge on paper and share it with the world.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Promotion is not my forte, but I go to Amazon because it is just so huge. I hunt for reviewers on there and run ad campaigns. Everyone shops on Amazon!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Stick with it and hold strong with your vision. Only you know what you really want to put out in the world. That’s not to say advice is not welcome, just don’t let ALL the advice that comes pouring in run you over.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be confident and don’t worry about failure.
What are you reading now?
G.A. Mckevett’s series about Savannah Reid. It is so light and fun!
What’s next for you as a writer?
More books that help me carve out my niche and explore myself as an author. Promotion is also something I have to reluctantly pursue.
