Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an etsy shop owner and a mental health campaigner. I am also currently training as a counsellor. I am extremely passionate about raising awareness on mental health.
I have written one book which is my own story of my journey through mental illness.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is called In Bloom Not Broken.
I believe no one is totally broken, we are all just in bloom and with time and under the right conditions we are all capable of growing and blooming. Sometimes it just takes time.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
While writing this book I drove my partner mad at times with listening to the same few songs as their are certain songs that just make me think and reflect more.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have read so many amazing mental health memoirs that have inspired me to want to share my own story with people. I am a huge fan of Jonny Benjamin for his work and Matt haig is incredible for his books too.
What are you working on now?
I have written a childrens book with the aim to promote acceptance in young children with themselves and for others and to promote differences between us being a positive thing!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am a big twitter fan and I find the mental health community there extremely supportive.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write! I never thought I would be able to write more than two pages let alone make it in to a book but once I started I couldn’t stop and before I knew it, I had written a book!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up.
It’s simple but true. Never give up on yourself, your dreams, your goals – Keep going and believe.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading The Girl Before by JP Delaney
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to get my childrens book published that’s a big goal for me and I would love to put together a book that is more a collaboration from lots of people that offers hope to those struggling with their mental health.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
