Interview With Author Katrina Robertson
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a financial advisor and investment manager by trade and I’ve only authored one book, a memoir.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Juror #11: A Memoir Of The Broken Justice System And Rising From The Trials Of Life
I’d been told for years I needed to write a book due to all the vulnerable stories I would share on social media regarding the hard journey of raising adopted boys from foster care. When I went through the nightmare of serving on jury duty for a murder trial to end up with my own charges and hearing, with a mistrial granted in the murder trial, I decided to write that book! I incorporate stories from my children while telling the juror story.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have to write when the urge hits me or I lose it.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love reading memoirs. I’ve been inspired by so many over the years at the bravery of people telling their stories.
What are you working on now?
No books, just financial planning for people 🙂
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right now I’m doing a lot of podcasts.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
You’ll get discouraged but don’t stop!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You can pour your heart and soul into something or someone and it not turn out like you wanted but don’t stop…believing, loving, hoping, building, growing, and creating.
What are you reading now?
A memoir by another local author.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Hmmmm…. to be determined.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hmmmm….. probably a crime thriller like a James Patterson one and then a hot romance for when I’m feeling lonely.
