Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Kezia and I am an Author, Inspirational Spoken Word Poet and Behavioral Health Technician. I’m a Phoenix native and graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2015 with a BS in Psychology. Post graduation, I’ve worked in the Behavior Health field and have found it to be both challenging and rewarding. I have written 3 books, a short-story romance, a book of spoken word poetry and self-help book on mindset transformation. A little bit more about me.. I do have a pet, my baby girl is a chihuahua-pug mix named Dutchess. And, she definitely lives up to the name! I am also a proud cheesehead. I loove my Greenbay Packers!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Empower You is a motivational – devotional designed to escort you through 70 days of mindset transformation. There are 70 days, each with a new topic that will challenge your current way of thinking and help you to develop a more positive and optimistic perspective in life. So, if you struggle with negative thinking, setting goals and sticking to them or if you just feel stuck
in life and feel like there’s something more you should be doing with your life, then this book is for you. Its a great place to start and offers stepping stones to success. I share tips and techniques that will help you improve in multiple areas in your life. The only catch is that you have to be willing to commit and to do the work! What inspired me to write this book? To make a long story short, a couple years ago, I attended a Get Motivated Seminar and soon after attended a Gerry Robert 3 day workshop called Publish a Book and Grow Rich. That workshop inspired me in ways I cannot explain. The information I learned went beyond learning how to write and publish a book and make money from it. I learned things about mindset and success that changed my entire outlook on life and how we live it. Ever since, I’ve been on a mission to share the knowledge I learned and
more, because I’ve seen results in my life, after applying the information that I learned.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think I necessarily have any unusual writing habit. But, I will admit that I am pretty spontaneous when it comes to my writing process. I’d definitely describe myself as a go with the flow writer. I tend write upon impulse. As soon as I am struck with inspiration, I have to pull out a notebook or even the notepad on my cellphone and just start writing away. Otherwise, I find myself stuck with writers block if I try to write at any other time.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are so many individuals who inspire me! From family, friends, to well known influencers. But, the one I’d like to highlight is Brian Tracy! Brian Tracy is a very well known author, motivational speaker, self-development and success expert
and I feel so lucky, blessed and fortunate to have a review of my book Empower You, by THE Brian Tracy himself! I love reading his books and have learned so much on topics that I have become very passionate about.
What are you working on now?
I am preparing to launch my new book entitled Empower You! Mindset Transformation: A Daily Devotional for the Mind.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think its important to collect testimonials and book reviews and to encourage your readers to post their reviews on amazon, goodreads and sites where your book can be purchased. A good way to promote your book is to reach out to book bloggers and influencers on social media, such as Instagram, who are in your niche and can promote your book to their audience.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Always write with passion and try not to be a perfectionist. I think its great to want to do things well, but it’s also important to remember not to allow our desire for perfection to hold us back from sharing our work with the world. Sometimes, the imperfection is the transparency and authenticity that our readers are looking for and may be the very thing that allows you to stand out from the crowd.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard is.. Just do it! Yes, the Nike slogan. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always struggled a bit with overthinking things and letting fear dictate my future. But, when I intentionally decided to operate out of a “just do it” mindset, without allowing myself time to overthink, I find myself accomplishing things that I wouldn’t have otherwise accomplished.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill!
What’s next for you as a writer?
In the near future, I would love to start up my own blog and write some guest posts as well. However, I am currently preparing to launch my new book, Empower You! And, I am prepping for a virtual tour for my book as well.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh that’s an easy question to answer! First and foremost, I would have to bring my Bible. And then, I’d bring a copy of Flowers in the Attic, My Sweet Audrina and Whitefern, written by my favorite author, V.C. Andrews. Her books are thrilling, mysterious and really keep me sitting on the edge of my seat. It is rare that I find books that I don’t mind re-reading over and over again. But, V.C. Andrew’s wrote books that not only keep me on the edge of my seat, but that also leave me wanting more. I can definitely re-read those books anytime.
