Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a writer, introvert and gamer. I live a fairly boring life and like it that way. When I want excitement I want it from the safety of my own home via reading or writing.
As of December 2019, I’ve written three books and two short stories. My main focus is on the Berender-trilogy: Stone of Power, Demise of a Legend and Fire or Blood.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Demise of a Legend is the latest book I’ve published and I’m currently editing Fire or Blood, the third book in the Berender-trilogy.
I’ve always enjoyed long fantasy series and whenever I get to the end of one I get sad. So I decided to write one for myself. Of course, this is a longterm project so I’m dividing it into trilogies for a more pleasant reading experience. (An unfinished series can be a real bummer.)
Robert Jordan, Terry Pratchett, and Terry Goodkind have all inspired me to create a world of my own. Every day I see indie authors working hard and gaining success and that inspires me to work harder.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write on a desktop. Yes, I know. Nobody does that anymore, but I prefer it. Besides that, I don’t have many habits surrounding my writing. I prefer to do it in the morning and for about an hour at a time.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve read Gone with the Wind several times. And Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice. And of course Wheel of Time and Sword of Truth. These are all worlds that I got to be a part of.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m editing the third book, Fire or Blood, and planning out the next trilogy.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I struggle with promotion and marketing. Getting eyes on my books is harder than I ever thought it would be, especially with a very limited budget. (I do like awesomegang though ๐ )
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice for new authors is the usual; read a lot, write a lot, and never stop learning.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Something might take a long time to do, but that time will pass whether or not you do it.
Say it’ll take you five years to write a book/learn to play the piano/get a degree. Yes, it’s a long time, but in five years that time will have passed. Where will you be? Have you accomplished your goal or did you think it would take too long?
What are you reading now?
I just finished Thirteen Reasons Why. I have a huge TBR list but I’m not sure which book to choose next.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Next up for me is more writing. And learning about my weak point: marketing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were to be stranded on a desert island I’d bring Pride and Prejudice, Gone with the Wind, and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Add to that either a survival guide or a new fantasy book.
