About Kiana, Daughter of the Veldt by Michael D. Robbins
At the young age of seven, Kiana Richards tasted her first brush with extinction. Since that time she has taken up the mantle laid down by her father, to preserve the genetic treasures of her native South Africa. Teetering between the dictates of her faith and the dogma of extremists such as the self-styled Colonel Welles, Kiana treads the fine edge of belief vs science.
