Interview With Author Kimberly Moses
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Kimberly Moses. I am a minister, insurance agent, singer, wife, and mom. I have a publishing company called Rejoice Essential Publishing, and each month, we put out a monthly magazine called Rejoice Essential Magazine. I am passionate about eating healthy because I recently lost over 50 pounds. I have authored 51 books since 2014. I have books covering various topics, including prayer, faith, prophecy, healing, self-help, superheroes, and creative stories.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called “Spirit Wars: The Prophet Versus The Witch.” This book was inspired because I endured years of spiritual attacks as I stepped out into prophetic ministry. I was minding my own business and preaching the Bible. Then, suddenly, witches started to come into my dreams and show up at my meetings. Some of them tried to hurt me physically, but they could never get close to me because God was protecting me. This book tells a supernatural story of good versus evil and light versus darkness. As people read the book, they will understand that a spiritual battle is occurring behind the scenes.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
In 2014, after going through a challenging season, I had a divine assignment from God to write a list of 21 books. I finished writing the list a few years ago and received even more instructions on writing more books. When I start writing books, I feel an unction to sit down at my desk and don’t get up until I write a chapter a day until the book is finished. I develop my outline for the book first; then, every day, I pace myself to write 1 chapter a day so I can have time to meditate on the next chapter or go back and add something to a chapter I already wrote.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
John Eckhardt is an author who inspires me the most because he writes fast and is full of revelation. He has over 230 books on Goodreads. His books exposed me to a world of knowledge I didn’t know existed. His materials took me to another level spiritually and helped me grow in God’s calling.
Lester Sumrall is another author who inspires me. He passed away in 1996, and his books are available for free on his website. He authored over 130 books. His books are his legacy, and they have outlived him. One day, my books will also be a part of my legacy.
What are you working on now?
I might start a series for my book, “Tabuletta.” I wrote a superhero who defeated this evil scientist, but instead of seeking magic, she seeks God. I was speaking with a ministry peer, and she thought I wrote more than one Tabuletta book. Right now, I am working on releasing a music album.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
In the past, I would place an ad on Facebook and Amazon to reach more readers. Recently, I tried Pubby for book reviews. I know I must keep marketing my books and never grow lazy or complacent. I have to believe that my books will inspire and impact lives.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
You must be consistent and write every day until the book is finished. Sometimes, you will face challenges such as files being accidentally deleted, computers breaking, being hacked, discouragement, and writer’s block. You must first take time to develop an outline and then build on it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Stay in your lane and be yourself. We must do what we are good at and never compare ourselves to others. We must stop copying others and do what we are assigned to do. We must be authentic instead of being fake. Everyone might not like us, and we might not be for everyone, but those who are supposed to like us will. We will reach the people who we are meant to reach.
What are you reading now?
I am reading about cloud computing because technology is changing and more data centers are being built. I want to stay ahead and use this knowledge to help my business reach another level.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to develop a keto cookbook one day because I lost over 50 pounds. I have found some delicious substitutes for carbohydrates, and I enjoy eating them. I want to share my favorite foods to inspire others on their weight loss journey.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would take the Bible, a survival book, and a history book. The Bible will be for motivation and encouragement. A survival book is needed to show me how to build a fire, shelter, and how to hunt. The history book will be for entertainment and to get my mind off the stressful situation of being stranded.
