Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an Australian author with currently 14 books published.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Zombie Playlist, a post-apocalyptic action, suspense, horror, comedy, drama mash-up that WAS NOT inspired by the Coronavirus, I promise. I wrote this book 2 years ago, and it was while listening to the Cranberries ‘Zombie’ at a set of traffic lights that the idea of a music-inspired book came to me.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a lazy writer. I don’t rush my words and I don’t write to public buying demand. I write was inspires me, and sometimes it takes a while…because I’m lazy LOL
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter, Jamie McGuire…these are all authors whose words I devour as soon as they hit my kindle.
What are you working on now?
I’m dabbling between two novels…Letting Go, which is the sixth book in my Mercy’s Angels Series (a collection of books that dives deep into the subject of violence against women)…and an as-yet-unnamed book about a violent girl with an antisocial personality disorder. The character itself has been a strong voice in my head…the plot is developing as we go.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Ahhh, the golden unicorn in marketing. There is no such thing, and definitely no such ONE thing. What works for me when publishing and marketing a book is a combination of classy, professional graphics, a release tour hosted by a professional marketing company, and pounding the pavement. And by that, I mean connecting with readers and bloggers, and scrolling through hundreds of google marketing sites to find ones that offer low cost and efficient advertising in an effort to flood the literary world with my book.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write your book over and over, until you’ve got a high quality, finished manuscript, then get a GOOD, professional editor. Then get an even better graphics artist to create your cover. Reach out to authors who write in similar genres and introduce yourself. Ask questions, be kind.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write drunk, edit sober… LOL
What are you reading now?
Nothing. I’m honestly going through a dry spell when it comes to books. I am writing though, so that is a plus.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to work on another film. My last co-write and script edit was on the horror film, BOAR. It released through Universal Pictures in 2018. That was an epic adventure!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Lothaire by Kresley Cole…Acheron by Sherilynn Kenyon and The Bronze Horseman by Paulina Simmons
