Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi there,
My name is Kirsty and I live in the south east of England. I’m both a traditional and Indie author who specializes in romance. I love to write swoon-worthy guys that take your breath away. I write mature YA romance, New Adult romance and Contemporary. I’m a hopeless romantic and I suppose you can tell this from my books! So far I’ve published nine full length novels and two novellas.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The last book I published was called Worth Fighting For. It’s book two in the Fighting Series published by Hachette. I loved creating these books – I guess I was looking for a bit of excitement and a challenge to write this time around and Jamie, my car stealing ex-con with a heart of gold just popped into mind.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really – I like to write in the peace and quiet, I struggle if my family are home and making noise so most of my writing gets done with my husband is at work and my son is at school or in bed! I love to listen to music while writing too, but only on VERY low volume. If it’s too high I tend to spend more time singing along than writing!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Anyone and everyone. The fact that people sit there, on their own, struggling with their own demons, and bleed words inspire me. Writing can sometimes be a very hard and lonely job.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on book three of the Fighting Series. I’m not sure when it will be out but I’m so so happy to be back in the car stealing / bad boy world!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m not very good at promoting my books, it’s an area I lack in for sure – I tend to stick to Facebook and twitter. I’m hoping in 2018 I’ll learn a few tricks and get better at promotions!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up! When you find it hard or you’re suffering with writers block, just remember why you started in the first place – because you LOVE it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t eat yellow snow.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently on a psychological thriller binge! Current one is Bring Me Back by BA Paris.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m looking to start a new YA brand with a new pen name, something very different to what I usually write. I’m very excited about it but at the moment I can’t say too much!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Twilight (yes, I know, an oldie – but still a goodie! Edward was probably one of my first book boyfriends.
A Court of Mist and Fury – Um, hello, Rhysand!!
The Green Mile by Stephen King. Classic, heart wrenching, amazing.
