Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a mother of two from New England. Writing has been a long time dream and I wrote several first draft novels that are moldering quietly in the closet. After many failed starts, I finally launched a complete book into the world.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Zombies vs Aliens is an apocalyptic monster mash comedy. It was inspired by predecessors of the zombie comedy genre, comic books, and 80’s monster movies.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have two small children. My lap top and I go anywhere and everywhere. I am rarely at a desk. I write on the couch, in their room, on the bed, on the floor. Wherever and whenever I can find time.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My biggest writing influence are Diana Wynne Jones and Neil Gaiman, that mix of wit and story weaving is something I aspire to.
What are you working on now?
Currently working on the sequel for Zombies vs Aliens, tentatively titled Happy Little Accidents, as well as a dark fantasy.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still wading into this process. I am a total newbie trying to find methods that work.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t be afraid of self promotion and trying new methods.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice, writing advice, I’ve ever heard is “Just Keep Writing”. No matter how stuck you are or what self doubts are gnawing at you through the first draft, keep going to the finish line.
What are you reading now?
Currently reading Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard and Uprooted by Naomi Novik
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to finish and submit the sequel for Zombies vs Aliens before the year is out and have another novel finished and polished for submission as well.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
Lamb by Christopher Moore
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett
