Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! I am a director of an early childhood center by day and a children’s literature author by night. I have a very supportive family that consists of my husband and two children. Writing has been a hobby of mine from a young age, but recently I decided to go forward and share my work with the world. As of right now, I have published one book, Jasper the Bold(ish), however, I have written several and plan to publish them in the near future so keep an eye out for them!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent story, Jasper the Bold(ish), was inspired by my own childhood fears. Some were so silly to others so it inspired me to write a story about it! I also love humor so of course I had to add that in. I feel that when parents read to children they want to enjoy the story too. I strive to write tales that both parents and children will equally enjoy.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do not think I have any unusual writing habits.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dr. Seuss. I love his work and the skill he had of writing books in rhyme that told stories in such a wonderful fashion. He was truly a talented man.
What are you working on now?
I just finished writing a story that teaches children a lesson in self love. I’ll begin editing and tweaking it soon enough.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am very active on Facebook with my author page. I like to interact with my fans there and share updates as well.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up! It’s a long, trying journey and many people may think your dreams are too big. There is never a dream too big, only small minds that cannot see the bigger picture.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I ever heard was not to avoid going forward with something because of the time it will take to happen, because that time will pass anyway. That really opened my eyes and pushed me forward to publish my book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More stories to come! Writing is something I will never stop doing. I’ve heard, “do something you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”. I do work a normal day job, but writing will never feel like a “job” to me.
