Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written many things over the years, but I’ve self-published 5 books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I Love You is an inspirational book written in the form of a letter. I had been working intensely on my mental health and wanted to give other people the support I was learning to give to myself.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not sure. I use the pantsing writing process, but that’s not really unusual.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ray Bradbury, Tolkien, John Steinbeck, and Agatha Christie?
What are you working on now?
A medieval fantasy! I’ve never written in the fantasy genre before and I’m excited.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I mainly use Twitter so far. Looking to branch out.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Follow what inspires you, what you’re passionate about. When you find yourself getting concerned about writing rules or advice, consider what your individual story needs. Maybe the advice is best, or maybe you should artfully choose a different path. Whatever you do, do it deliberately for your story.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Writing advice – “All of the good, weird stories I’ve written are based on things I’ve dredged out of my subconscious. That’s the real stuff. Everything else is fake.” – Ray Bradbury
Life Advice – “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” – Socrates
What are you reading now?
The Silmarillion. I want to read fantasy to get myself in that groove for my WIP.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Wherever my inspiration takes me!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
LOTR, the Bible, and The Martian Chronicles?
