Interview With Author Larada Horner-Miller
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a retired middle school teacher who taught literature, language arts, Spanish and computers. I co-manage our family ranch in southeastern Colorado and northeastern New Mexico.
I have written seven books, three cookbooks and narrated and published three audiobooks.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Was It A Dream?: Navigating Life’s Journey Through Poetry. It is the first in a three-book series of poetry I gathered from notebooks and sketch books back to the 1980s.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have really gotten into dictating my poetry I found using Scrivener.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Tony Hillerman, Shakespeare and Mary Oliver have really influenced me.
What are you working on now?
I am formatting in Vellum my new poetry book, Was It A Dream?: Navigating Life’s Journey Through Poetry. I am also re-releasing my first book, This Tumbleweed Landed and I am learning AMMO Click Ads Testing from Steve Pieper.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do a free giveaway and stack promotions at a variety of vetted websites—Fussy Librarian, etc.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t wait! I wrote my first book then put it away for twenty-five years. Do it now!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write two crappy pages a day.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Books #2 & #3 in my poetry series.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My Bible, Alcoholics Anonymous, Mary Oliver’s Devotions, and one of Tony Hillerman’s books.
