Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a first-time author and recently self-published, “Just Another Girl’s Story, A Memoir on Finding Redemption.” Writing my story and sharing my testimony is something I felt nudged to do for many years. I had a feeling (because of my own experience) that too many women suffer needlessly for mistakes that can’t be reversed. By sharing my personal and honest journey, I hope that my testimony offers a pathway to forgiveness and redemption.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is, “Just Another Girl’s Story, A Memoir on Finding Redemption.” I had so many other titles in mind; however, I chose this one because of an experience I had one night. While at dinner with five Catholic women; we got to talking about the subject of my book; abortion. For most women, such an experience is a very personal and private matter. Yet as I openly shared parts of my book, two other women shared that they too had abortions. That is 1/2 of the women at the table, which makes me “just another girl” who experienced a life-altering decision.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have one. I write best when I am wrapped up in a homemade quilt I made. Before sitting down to write, I wrap the blanket around my body like a cocoon. If it’s warm in my writing room, I turn a box fan on me so that I don’t overheat.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am a sucker for anything inspirational and books that help me to be a better person. I’ve read a lot of self-help, memoirs and spiritual books in my life. I’m not much of a fiction reader; so I don’t have a particular favorite author or book series in mind. Looking up at my book shelf above my writing desk, I spot one book that I’ve enjoyed reflecting upon: “The Playful Way to Knowing Yourself” by Roberta Allen. It’s more of a workbook, but it’s been a neat way of self-discovering “me” a bit more.
