Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live in Hawaii and love everything about island living.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Rainbow Connection is a takeoff from my Louise Golden mystery series. By the fourth book, the little girl in the series, Emmeline, has grown into a surly teenager who finds herself in a heap of trouble. It was time for me to dig deeper into Emmeline’s character and for readers to see the world through her eyes.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know how unusual it is, but I like to write very early morning when the world is quiet and still.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Some of my favorites are Sue Grafton and Janet Evanovich.
What are you working on now?
I’m working in another spinoff from my series, a cozy murder mystery that takes place in a Senior Living complex.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Twitter seems to generate the most sales.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Get your story on paper, then worry about fixing it. Allow yourself to write badly, then edit. Beause you can’t edit a blank page.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Set a goal so big that you can’t achieve it until you grow into the person who can.”
What are you reading now?
Skip Langdon Mysteries: volumes 2-9, by Julie Smith
What’s next for you as a writer?
I would like to keep expanding my Louise Golden mystery series, as well as develop my two spin-offs into series.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, and inspirational books by Caroline Myss, Echkart Tolle, and Deepak Chopra. Because in that situation I think I’d need all the inspiration I could get.
