Interview With Author Lena Everhart
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing for over a decade, crafting dark and addictive romance stories that explore obsession, power, and passion. I’ve published 21 books, each filled with intense chemistry, morally grey heroes, and heroines who refuse to break. When I’m not writing, I’m lost in a book, drinking too much coffee, or plotting my next dangerously irresistible love story.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book, “Bitter Hearts, Sweet Lies”, is a story of second chances, heartbreak, and the thin line between love and betrayal. I was inspired by the idea of unfinished business between two people who can’t seem to let go, no matter how much time has passed. The push and pull of unresolved feelings, the tension of past wounds, and the undeniable pull of fate—these are the elements that shaped this book. I wanted to explore what happens when love is both the cause of pain and the only way to heal.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t say unusual, but I definitely have my quirks. I write best late at night, when the world is quiet and distractions fade. I always have a cup of coffee nearby—sometimes untouched, but necessary for the vibe. Music is a must, usually dark cinematic scores or moody playlists that match the intensity of my characters. And when I get stuck, I pace around like my characters are right there with me, arguing their way onto the page.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been influenced by a mix of dark romance, classic literature, and emotionally intense storytelling. Sylvia Day, J.T. Geissinger, and Penelope Douglas have definitely shaped my love for powerful, tension-filled romances with strong-willed heroines and dangerously irresistible heroes.
I also admire the way V.E. Schwab builds atmospheric worlds, and how F. Scott Fitzgerald captures longing and self-destruction so beautifully. There’s something about the push-and-pull of desire, power, and vulnerability that always draws me in—both as a reader and a writer.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on my next dark romance novel—a story filled with forbidden desire, dangerous power plays, and the kind of tension that lingers long after the last page. It’s a high-stakes, emotionally charged tale where obsession and passion collide, pushing the characters to their limits.
I love crafting morally grey heroes, strong-willed heroines, and relationships that are as intoxicating as they are destructive. This book is no exception, and I can’t wait to pull readers into another dangerously addictive love story.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I focus on Amazon promotions (Kindle Free Deals, Countdown Deals), book promotion sites like Freebooksy & BookBub, and social media (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook groups) to reach romance readers. Newsletter swaps & ARC teams help build hype and reviews. A mix of discount promos, ads, and reader engagement works best for me.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write the stories you’re passionate about, not just what you think will sell. Consistency is key—even on days when writing feels impossible, show up for your book. Don’t be afraid to market yourself—readers can’t find your book if you don’t put it out there. And most importantly, be patient. Success in publishing is a long game, so keep writing, keep learning, and keep pushing forward.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write the book you want to read.”
It’s simple but powerful. It reminds me to stay true to my voice, my characters, and the kind of stories that set my soul on fire. Trends come and go, but passion and authenticity always resonate with readers.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading a mix of dark romance and emotionally charged thrillers. I love books that make me feel something—whether it’s heart-pounding tension, raw angst, or slow-burning passion. Anything with sharp dialogue, complex characters, and an irresistible pull between them instantly hooks me.
What’s next for you as a writer?
’m pushing my limits with even darker, more intense stories—the kind that make your heart race and leave you breathless. My next project will dive deeper into forbidden attraction, power struggles, and dangerously irresistible chemistry. I’m also exploring audiobooks and wider distribution, making my books even more accessible to readers who crave emotionally charged, addictive romance.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island, I’d bring books that I could reread endlessly and still get lost in.
1. “A Court of Mist and Fury” by Sarah J. Maas – For the slow-burn tension, epic romance, and sheer emotional depth.
2. “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas – Because revenge, resilience, and a brilliantly crafted plot never get old.
3. “Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Brontë – For its haunting love story and fiercely independent heroine.
4. A survival guide (because let’s be honest, I’d need some practical help too).
That way, I’d have passion, adventure, and a fighting chance at making it off the island
