Author Bio:
As a little one myself, I absolutely loved books, and as early as I can remember I began writing silly poems, ditties, and stories about animals and characters around me. My first lengthy rhyming story, ‘Hobo Smello the Mouse’ was terrible (but I was very proud of it!). I was 9!!.
I have enjoyed many years working with children both in childcare and in recreational gym play programs, and amongst my most treasured memories are when we were teaching nursery rhymes and songs with hand gestures and movement, and reading fun stories. There’s nothing so lovely as a child on your lap completely engrossed in a storybook, and the great delight as they respond, repeat, and ask for more.
The patterns of rhymes are wonderful for brain and memory development in young children, and a fun adventure story with a start, middle, and ending teaches sequencing as well. Add the whimsical opportunity to use voice variation, facial expressions, and silly sounds, and you have a great recipe for creating treasured moments.
I read to my own children every day until they could read themselves, and in doing so, I too lost myself in many a wonderful tale. These are some of my favorite memories.
In my pursuit of writing children’s books with the dual mission of entertaining and educating, I delight in infusing a touch of whimsical nonsense and lighthearted silliness. By doing so, I aim to bring joy to young readers and spark their curiosity and interest, creating opportunities for further exploration and discovery on a myriad of engaging topics.
I now live in Sydney Australia, where I have raised my beautiful grown son and daughter, and live with my husband Neil, and a cat called Tish, (who provides me with plenty of material!). I can see Reggie’s tree from my living room and bedroom windows!
