Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Lisa English. I have been an internet marketer for four years. I decided to pursue an online course to learn more about marketing. I have a certificate in internet marketing. I live in Evansville, Indiana. I am an enterprising person, and I love helping people. I love technology and computers. I love to work on children’s books. I am new to the field, but I love to find new ideas that a child might find interesting or humorous. I mostly create illustrated books, because a picture is worth a thousand words. “Russ the Taxi Guy” is the first of my “Occupations And Career Series”. I also have “Boo Boo the Chihuahua” which is the first of my “Pet and Animal series”. So I do not plan to stop creating children’s books. I love creating for them.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Russ the Taxi Guy” is my latest book about a cab driver who is really called Russ the Taxi Guy. He inspired me to write this book. Russ Weymouth is the star of the book and he also Co-Authored the book. He’s a great guy and loved by the community.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I usually get my story from the images. I may switch up and write the story then take my images. I might get a best seller then; you never know.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I really like Anne Rice and I adore Stephen King. I respect them for their imagination. How do they come up with so many distinct characters? Very impressive.
What are you working on now?
I am getting ready to do a second book in the Pet and Animal Series. It will be about a puppy in an animal shelter. I can’t say anymore than that right now. I do not wan’t to spoil the book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook and Twitter hands down. Facebook groups are great. I will create a new group or groups soon for more people to be able to advertise or promote their books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be patient and keep doing what you love. Focus on your dream and start thinking that it is real. For it to become real you have to imagine it as if it is already real. Does that make sense?
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Set goals and strive to achieve them. Setting long term and short term goals is a good business practice.
What are you reading now?
Right now I am reading “The Winter King” by Bernard Cornwell. I mix it up a little.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am searching for the right story that has all the things in it that a child loves. When I was a child there was one book that I will never forget and that book was Are you there God?, It’s me Margaret by Judy Blume. At the time I related to the main character in the book, Margaret. I think if a child can relate to the character in the book it will be a book they will cherish.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Have to go with “The Stand” , “The Shining”, “Carrie” all Stephen King.
“The Witching Hour” and “Lasher” Anne Rice
