Interview With Author Lisa Henry
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a fairly new writer, having only been seriously writing since 2020. I have handwritten 2 books, one Mystery/Thriller, Shea's Saviour and one Sci-Fi, Heading Home. I'm currently 8 chapters into my paranormal book, Missing.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I am currently 8 chapters into Missing. I was scrolling through Twitter one day and someone was posting pictures with captions like 'this is you next book cover, what is it about?' and i kind of made up the story from there.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I listen to LoFi music a lot when I'm writing. Sometimes it steps up a bit into dance or rave music, depending on the scene I'm writing. Whilst writing the battle scene for my second book, Heading Home, I listened to Massive Attack 'Angel' on repeat, it all depends on the scene and the mood I'm in.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have met both Karen Rose and Tess Gerritsen in person and have read all of their books. I enjoy looking at the layout of different genres.
What are you working on now?
Im working on Missing, a paranormal story revolving around 14 year old Luna who has the ability to speak to and help the dead. Although this time it's different.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Thats a good question, I haven't actually found the best website to promote as yet, but I use my Twitter page a lot.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don't let others bring you down, if it feels good to you then write it. Worry about the editing and mistakes later. Get your ideas down and go with the flow.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Best ever? Wow that would be hard to express as I've been given a lot of advice over the years. I guess it was recently when my husband encouraged me to write for the first time in 2020. That's where Shea's Saviour was born!
What are you reading now?
I'm currently an ARC reader for Elizabeth Holland's new book A Cornish Vintage Dress Shop.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep writing! I have my paranormal book to finish, plus collaborations with two of my children to write.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh wow! Karen Rose Quarter To Midnight, Tess Gerritsen The Surgeon, Nuala Ellwood The Day of The Accident and Sam Carrington The Missing Wife
