Interview With Author Lisa Whitney
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi! I’m Lisa Whitney, aka Lunamoongoddess1. I’m an 18-year-old author who has been in love with storytelling for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been drawn to the world of supernatural romance—wolves, Lycans, fated mates, and the kind of intense love stories that stay with you long after the last page. Writing became my way of bringing those worlds to life and sharing them with others who crave the same mix of danger, passion, and mystery.
So far, I’ve written one full-length novel, Claiming You Under the Blood Moon, which has already gained thousands of readers who have fallen in love with Sapphire, Jade, and Tyrone’s story. I’m currently working on the sequel, The Blood Moon’s Bride, which will continue the saga with even more twists, romance, and heart-pounding moments.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Claiming You Under the Blood Moon was inspired by what I thought might be the most werewolf-sounding title imaginable. My protagonist, Sapphire Randall, is a mix of different influences—part of me, the fiery strength of redheads everywhere, and even a touch of Misery from Stephen King. (Yes, I’m a huge Stephen King fan and couldn’t resist slipping in that darker edge.) The result is a story that blends romance, danger, and supernatural suspense with a heroine who refuses to be ordinary.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I enjoying typing into my notepad app while chugging down a Mountain Dew at two in the morning.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King and Hitsy and Neri A. Leleji from Inkitt.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on the sequel to Claiming You Under the Blood Moon, titled The Blood Moon’s Bride. This book dives even deeper into the world of werewolves and Lycans, with higher stakes, darker twists, and a romance that pushes my characters to their limits. I’m especially excited to expand the story with new perspectives, more supernatural intrigue, and emotional challenges that test loyalty, love, and destiny. My readers have already fallen for Sapphire, Jade, and Tyrone, and I can’t wait to share the next chapter of their journey.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right now I’m running ads on TikTok, where my book trailers and character clips get a lot of engagement. I’m also expanding to Instagram to reach an even wider audience of romance and fantasy readers.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
These are lessons I’ve learned the hard way, but don’t wait for “perfect” conditions to do what you’re passionate about. Just start writing, and trust your voice. The more you write, the more your voice will grow. Read widely, learn from authors you admire, (and even from those that you don’t) and don’t be afraid of feedback—it’s how your stories get stronger. Most of all, write the kind of book you’d be excited to read, because passion on the page is what connects with readers the most.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard comes from Stephen King in On Writing. He said, “Sometimes you have to go on when you don’t feel like it, and sometimes you’re doing good work when it feels like all you’re managing is to shovel shit from a sitting position.” That line stuck with me because it reminds me that writer’s block isn’t a stop sign—it’s just part of the process. Even on the days when it feels like I’m forcing words onto the page, I know I’m still moving the story forward.
What are you reading now?
Hitsy’s ‘This is Reality’ and Neri’s Moonmark, The Red Wolf awakens.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m focused on finishing The Blood Moon’s Bride, the sequel to Claiming You Under the Blood Moon. It takes the story to darker places, raises the stakes for my characters, and explores the Lycan side of the world in a way I’m really excited about. Beyond that, I’m planning to keep building the Blood Moon universe with more books, while also expanding my reach through TikTok and Instagram so I can connect with even more readers who love supernatural romance.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega #1) by Patricia Briggs
Moon Called (Mercy Thompson #1) by Patricia Briggs
Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #1) by Maggie Stiefvater
