Interview With Author Lita Marson
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I always wanted to be a writer. Since childhood I used to write with all the power of my imagination. Also I love to read books of many different genres. For many years I have been working in a public library, so my life is connected with books in many ways.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Unusual outcomes of divorce”. I was inspired by my own divorce. Also I wanted to imagine new better world without significant changes, but only with more kindness and mutual help.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No really. I use to write when I have an inspiration. Sometimes I force myself to write, if I feel that I have struggles to move forward. But most of the time words come in my mind without any unusual rituals or habits.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
They are so many! Of course, C. S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. “Chronicles of Narnia” and “Hobbit” were my favourite books in a childhood. Maggie Furey and her series “The Artefacts of Power”. And many, many others.
What are you working on now?
Now I am trying to finish my book about different type of another realities.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I just started to publish my book on Amazon, so I really don`t know yet what method would be the most useful. I hope that this website would help me promote my books, of course.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advise is simple – use everything as an inspiration. My own inspiration source are my dreams. We often forget about amazing things we have seen in our dreams. But all of them might be a wonderful idea for some fantasy book or novel.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”. I know that I won`t be able to finish something before I started something. If I want to write a book, I need to write at least first chapter, first page or even first sentence. If my goal is to promote my books, I need to publish them first. So step by step everything become possible.
What are you reading now?
Sophie Irwin “A Lady’s Guide to Fortune-Hunting”. My next book might be something about Christmas, because I love to read Christmas stories in this time of the year.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I think the same process – writing, publishing and promoting.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Interesting question. I think in such situation the most useful books would be books and guides about survival. Maybe, some encyclopedic book about plants and trees, which can be used as a food and so on. Also some information about first aid. And for the soul I would bring some Holy Scriptures or prayers, because in a desert island it would be the better help to stay in the right mind.
