Interview With Author Lola Usupova
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an illustrator of children’s books. I made illustrations for six books by other authors. This is my first book and I am both an author and an illustrator.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My last book is “Hamster Tim: The Little Hamster’s Big Adventure”. My beloved husband inspired this book. In a computer game, he played a hamster character, so my character is a hamster.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love the stories and illustrations in Benji Davies’ books.
What are you working on now?
I finished the story about plastic bags in the sea. I finished the story about plastic bags in the sea. Now I will draw colorful illustrations for this book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m just starting with children’s books and learning this area.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
The most important thing is to start and do a little bit daily for your book. I was sure I had a lot of work and would never be able to publish my book. But I wrote the text and drew illustrations only in the subway on the way from home to work and home from work.
In small steps, I realized that my children’s book was published and available for purchase on Amazon.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Life is too short to be wasted.
