Interview With Author Lucy Peace
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a Sci-Fi romance author of 22 books, most of which are set in my Tessan universe. I love sci-fi and HEA’s so this genre was the perfect fit.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My last release was Redeeming Aries. I was approached for a shared world where sci-fi romance met astrological mythology and loved the idea. My book is book 1 of 12.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can write anywhere. It doesn’t matter if a rave is going on around me. I prefer a quiet setting, but with hyperfocus, I can’t not concentrate on the story.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My early inspirations in this genre are Tiffany Roberts, Anna Carven, and Zoey Draven. Long stories, affecting romance, action and adventure. I love an overarching series, especially where each book has its own HEA.
What are you working on now?
My next book is The Ilia’s Lovers, which is so long I’m having to break it into two books. It’s the second book in my rulers series and is interlinked with my Renegades and Warriors series in a long, over arching space opera.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m always learning about marketing, lol. I’m not great at it, so even though I’ve been in this game for a while, I still have a lot to learn.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
You can’t edit a blank page. The most important thing you can do, as an author, is finish a book, no matter how bad it is. Every first manuscript is bad, that’s what editing is for and you’ll learn more about writing by finishing and editing, then any class could teach you.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Finish your book.
What are you reading now?
American Werewolf in Space by Alisha Sunderland. I’m loving it. Human women are weak and helpless in romance, though many authors prefer to write strong women as I do. But having the heroine be a werewolf is inspired. The heroine’s a badass and I love it.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m going to spend time this year writing a non-romance contemporary fantasy novel, the first of a trilogy, and shop that under a pen name. This book has been with me for a long time and I’ve already written two drafts, but I needed to establish my SFR pen name before I finished it as it’s such a complex book. I’m working on the plot now and love being back in this world.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Persuasion by Jane Austen
The Warlock’s Kiss by Tiffany Roberts
Guards, Guards, by Terry Pratchett
Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett. I haven’t read it yet because it’s his last book, so I’m saving it as it’ll be his last Discworld book I ever read. ๐
