Interview With Author Lyndee Maharaj
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a PhD student in Computer Science. I’ve always been passionate about technology and exploring its potential to improve the world, so pursuing this degree was a natural choice for me. I’m also an avid sci-fi lover and have read countless books, movies, and comics in the genre.
In addition to my studies, I’m also a content writer. I love creating content that is both informative and entertaining, and have written on topics ranging from tech trends to lifestyle advice. My writing has been featured in several online publications and I plan to continue honing my craft as time goes on.
Overall, I’m very passionate about learning new things and pushing myself to be the best version of me that I can be. Whether it’s through my studies or hobbies, I take great pleasure in discovering new ideas and concepts that can help shape our collective future.
I have written two books: The Rise of the Machines and The Painted Porch.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled The Rise of the Machines: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Our World. It was inspired by my fascination with the potential for artificial intelligence to revolutionize the way we live our lives. I wanted to explore the implications of this technology, from its potential to improve healthcare and education, to its implications for society and the economy. The book dives into these topics in a comprehensive way, exploring both the potential benefits and risks associated with AI. I hope that readers will come away from it with a better understanding of AI’s capabilities and implications for our future.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Absolutely! I’m a bit of an eccentric when it comes to my writing habits. One of the more unusual things I do is write with a fountain pen. I love the way the ink flows and the texture of the paper when you write with a fountain pen. It’s such a unique experience and something that really helps me stay in the zone while writing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a huge fan of science fiction and AI literature, so two authors who have had a major influence on me are Isaac Asimov and William Gibson. Asimov’s work has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of the potential of artificial intelligence, while Gibson’s writing has inspired me to think more deeply about the implications of technology on our lives.
One book in particular that stands out to me is Asimov’s I, Robot. This classic collection of short stories explores the ethical implications of AI and robotics, which has been incredibly helpful for me as I continue to research these topics. Similarly, Gibson’s Neuromancer has been an invaluable source for understanding the effects of technology on society as well as its potential for both good and evil.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a science fiction novel about a group of humans who travel to an alien planet in search of a new home. The story follows their journey as they explore the strange and mysterious world, encountering all sorts of creatures and civilizations. It’s been a really fun project to work on, as I get to explore my own creativity and imagination while also learning about different scientific concepts.
The book is still in its early stages, but I’m excited to see where it goes! I’m hoping that by the end of it, readers will have gained insight into what it might be like to explore outer space and discover something entirely new. Hopefully, this story will provide an entertaining escape from reality while also inspiring readers to think more deeply about our universe.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My best method for promoting books is to start by building an author platform. This means creating a website and engaging with readers on social media. I also recommend taking advantage of book promotion websites such as BookBub, which can help you reach a large audience and get your book in front of potential readers. Additionally, I think it’s important to build relationships with other authors and influencers in the writing community who can help spread the word about your work. Finally, don’t forget about traditional methods such as radio interviews, book signings, and advertising in print publications. All of these tactics can be effective when it comes to promoting your books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I understand the challenges of starting out in the writing world. My advice would be to read as much as you can and take notes on what works for you and what doesn’t. It’s important to learn from other authors and find your own voice.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard is to always stay true to yourself. No matter what life throws at you, it’s important to stay grounded in your values and beliefs. This helps ensure that you make decisions that are right for you, rather than trying to please other people or fit in with the crowd.
What are you reading now?
Right now I’m reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s a classic novel that follows the journey of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who travels from his homeland in Spain to Egypt on a quest to fulfill his destiny. It’s an inspiring story about following your dreams and trusting in the universe to help you along the way. I’m really enjoying it so far and can’t wait to see how Santiago’s journey ends!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m excited to see what comes next in my writing journey. My focus right now is on completing a novel that I’ve been working on for the past few years. I’m also exploring different writing styles and genres, such as nonfiction and poetry. I’m looking forward to continuing to hone my craft and develop new skills as a writer.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on an island, I would bring a few DIY books with me. First, a book about building shelters and using natural resources to create them would be essential. This would help me stay safe from the elements and provide me with peace of mind. Second, a book about foraging for food and finding edible plants would be invaluable. This knowledge could keep me fed and healthy until I am rescued or find a way off the island. Finally, I would bring a book about basic first aid that could help treat any injuries or illnesses that may arise while I’m stranded.
