Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a new crime/suspense/thriller author. My debut book ‘Concrete Jungle’ is coming out on September 4th, 2021. It’s now available for pre-order on Amazon. I’ve been writing since I was eight-years-old. I’ve always loved reading and writing. It was always an escape to a different world. I’ve started my own freelance writing & photography company in 2014, called ‘Room with a View Productions.’ I currently reside in Hamilton, Ontario. I’m originally from Toronto, Ontario. I’m 38, engaged, and I love animals, especially cats!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my debut book is ‘Concrete Jungle,’ and its inspiration is the jungle we live in every day. The world. People are animals. Some are savages. Some are butterflies. It’s a dog-eat-dog world. My different experiences with all sorts of people are what has been its main inspiration. I love reading and watching crime/thrillers, romance, drama & suspense the most, some of which have also been inspirations.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t say unusual, per se—just a room with a view, some caffeine, nicotine & marijuana.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King and Susanna Kaysen are two of my favourite authors. ‘Girl, Interrupted’ is definitely one of my favourite books. I love everything King has ever written; ‘Misery’ is my favourite.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on getting everything perfect for the release of ‘Concrete Jungle,’ as it’s still in its editing & marketing stages.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Social Media definitely. I also run my own website, ‘Room with a View Productions,’ and I promote all things ‘Concrete Jungle’ there as well. I do post my work on other websites to gain feedback. Vocal Media is a site that I use often and that I like a lot.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up and write every day. Persistence over perfection!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.” -Muhammad Ali
I like to replace training with writing & editing. Editing is a bitch.
What are you reading now?
“I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer.” It’s is a true crime book by Michelle McNamara about the Golden State Killer. Rest in peace to her.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to begin working on my next book once ‘Concrete Jungle’ is closer to being complete.
I’d also like to work on a ‘Concrete Jungle’ related app. It will be story-based, with choices for each character. It’s a choose your own adventure type of app.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The books that I would bring would have to be:
“Misery” by Stephen King
“Girl, Interrupted” by Susanna Kaysen
“I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer” by Michelle McNamara.
“Chain Letter” by Christopher Pike
